Vocational Training

The Amar Jyoti Trust supports self-help projects for women and youth in the tribal villages of India.

Lacking  marketable skills, many of the tribal youth are forced to migrate to the major cities of India to seek work.  In the cities they live in terrible conditions and are exploited by other groups. Women especially are often cheated by their employers, sold to other agencies or exploited sexually.

With suitable training these people can instead support themselves in their village communities and in the local towns. Read their success stories …

Our partners the Sisters of the Queen of Apostles (SRA) have established community training centres serving hundreds of tribal villages in the poorest states of India.
